Michelangelo, whose real name was Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni, was one of the greatest artists of the Italian Renaissance. Born on March 6, 1475 in Caprese, Tuscany, Michelangelo left his mark on the history of art through his immense talent in several disciplines: sculpture, painting and architecture.
