Leonardo da Vinci, one of the greatest geniuses of the Renaissance, spent the last three years of his life at Le Clos Lucé, a manor house in Amboise, France. Invited by King François I, Leonardo da Vinci moved to Le Clos Lucé in 1516, taking with him some of his most famous masterpieces, including the Mona Lisa.
Le Clos Lucé, formerly known as Château du Cloux, is a historic residence dating back to the 15th century. Situated 400 metres from the Château d’Amboise, it offers a breathtaking view of the Loire Valley. Francis I, admiring Leonardo da Vinci’s many talents as an artist, inventor, scientist and engineer, invited him to France to benefit from his vast knowledge and enlightened advice.
