What is the capital of South Sudan?

The capital of Southern Sudan is Juba, a city located in the central part of the country. Juba is the largest city in Southern Sudan and is the political, economic and cultural center of the country.

Juba is located in the equatorial region of Southern Sudan, just south of the confluence of the White and Blue Niles. The city lies at an altitude of 550 meters above sea level and is surrounded by low hills and savanna. Juba is also the starting point of the main road that connects Southern Sudan to Kenya and Uganda.

Juba has a rich and complex history. The city was founded in the early 20th century by the British as a small administrative town. After Sudanese independence in 1956, Juba became the capital of the autonomous region of Southern Sudan. In 2011, after a referendum that led to the separation of South Sudan from Sudan, Juba became the capital of the newly independent country.
